Research Interests
My main research interest is the evolution of hominin skull morphology and its relationship with masticatory function. I am also interested in the general palaeobiology and funerary behaviour of modern human populations.
Short Bio
My academic background includes a BA in Anthropology (Nova University of Lisbon), MSc in Human Evolution (University of Coimbra) and PhD in Human Sciences (Hull York Medical School). During part of that time I worked in contract and research archaeology mostly as head biological anthropologist, and excavated in over 30 burial sites. I first joined ICArEHB in 2017 (after finishing my PhD), where I now co-head the OsteoArchaeology Lab and undertake research about hominin skull form and masticatory function.
