Last 24th May, our colleague João Luís Cardoso took office as a foreign correspondent scholar at the Real Academia de Doctores de España, having presented a lecture entitled: Leonardo Turriano and manufacturing production in Portugal in the first quarter of the 17th century: his contribution in the technological-military complex of Barcarena (Oeiras), based on the documentation and archaeological excavations carried out.
As is customary, the reception of the new scholar was preceded by a welcome address by the scholar Prof. Dr. Martín Almagro Gorbea. At the end, he was given the academic insignia and the respective diploma, accompanied by the signature of the act of investiture. The Cultural Attaché of the Portuguese Embassy in Madrid, Doctor Filipa Soares, representing the Ambassador, attended the session.
