Research Interests
In FINISTERRA ERC I will work on microstratigraphic reconstructions of cave sites from Southwestern Iberia, to explore the behavior and interactions between past human groups and the environment during the Middle to Upper Paleolithic transition. Based on archaeological soil and sediment micromorphology and other high-resolution techniques, I will try to decipher the geogenic, biogenic and anthropogenic processes involved in the archaeological record.
Short Bio
I’m an Anthropologist from the University of Antioquia (Colombia) with specialization in Archaeology. From 2018 to 2022 I worked as a professional archaeologist in the center and north of Colombia, carrying out archaeological surveys and rescues, guaranteeing the safeguarding of the Colombian cultural heritage. Now I am joining the FINISTERRA ERC project from the University of Cantabria, where I previously completed a master program in Prehistory and Archaeology, with a thesis about site formation processes at the Gravettian Fuente del Salin’s cave in northern Spain, based on soil and sediment micromorphology, μXRF and SEM analysis.
