Doctoral research fellowship in the field of Geoarchaeology in ERC Consolidator Grant FINISTERRA
A call is now open (deadline 23rd June 2023) for one doctoral research fellowship, in the field of Geoarchaeology, and within the project FINISTERRA – Population trajectories and cultural dynamics of Late Neanderthals in far Western Eurasia, funded by the European Research Council (ERC).
The grantee will carry out geoarchaeological analyzes of Middle Paleolithic cave contexts located in the Southwest of the Iberian Peninsula, with the aim of characterizing the natural and cultural processes of formation of the sites and their relationship with the surrounding landscape. This work will involve, among others, sediment micromorphology studies, and geochemical and geophysical analyzes of sedimentary deposits.
The successful applicant will enroll in the PhD in Archaeology at University of Algarve in Faro, Portugal, under the supervision of Dr. Alvise Barbieri and Dr. João Cascalheira.
Positions will start on Oct 1st and are limited to a period of 4 years.
