Research Interests
After exploring subjects related with human behaviour (Ethology) and human remains from the Palaeolithic found in Portugal (Human Evolution) recently I have analysed a sample of anthropological field reports with the intent to establish the consistency of these documents as trustful data to characterise past populations. I am now collaborating in the process of standardising bioarchaeological vocabulary and the implementation of a Portuguese anthropological database (DGPC) that will allow me in the future to analyse funerary practices from Portuguese past and present populations and its relation to paleodemographic and paleopathological features identified in the buried individuals.
Heritage and museology are also subjects that I am now starting to explore in articulation with the bioarchaeological perspective and the anthropological perspective with the intent to gather and preserve important information from past populations.
Short Bio
I am an anthropologist currently teaching as a visiting associate professor at Lisbon Polytechnic Institute since 2010. More recently I coordinate courses in Social Work Bachelor and Artistic and cultural Mediation Bachelor. I am also supervising master students in both ESELx and Universidade Nova. In ESELx I co-coordinate a research project on history, education and heritage.
I carry my researcher at the Interdisciplinary Center for Archaeology and Evolution of Human Behavior (ICArEHB), Universidade do Algarve, and Research Center for Anthropology and CHAM – Centre for Humanities.

Research Interests
