Short Bio

I am an interdisciplinary researcher interested in the evolution, maintenance, and population-specific variation of plant-based material cultures among wild chimpanzees. I combine archaeological methods with ethological approaches to reconstruct technological behaviour from wild primate species. Supported by The Leakey Foundation, I investigate the archaeological signatures and social and ecological contexts of plant-based technologies of wild chimpanzee populations in west Tanzania.
