Short Bio

Helena Reis is a PhD student developing research in the Mesolithic and Neolithic periods. She holds a MSc in Archaeology at the University of Lisbon (2014) with the thesis Settlement patterns in the Mesolithic and Early Neolithic on Mira river valley, in its regional context.
During a 6 months internship at University of Rennes, France, she developed work in regional Mesolithic period through laboratory and field work. Since then she has worked in commercial archaeology directing excavations in several contexts and chronologies, including Prehistory, and developed lithic studies of Neolithic, Chalcolithic and Bronze Age sites. More recently she has been working on Mesolithic and Neolithic contexts from southern and Central Portugal while undertaking a PhD on the subject Human settlement between the 6th and 4th millennium b.C. on the Portuguese Atlantic facade, between Tejo and Mondego valleys: an approach through GIS software, at University of Algarve.
